How a turn goes

  Roll two dice and move. One full lap of the board is one month of your life.

  Pass the start and you are paid — income in, expenses out, loan interest charged.

  Land somewhere and something happens: a deal offered, a life event, the market moving, a season turning, a chance to give.

  Decide — buy it, decline it, borrow for it, sell something, put money aside.

  Write it in your book. Every movement of money gets recorded before the turn ends.

The recording is the lesson

Most people who lose money in business are not bad at business. They simply never wrote anything down, so they could not see what was happening until it had already happened.

So every amount in this game goes into one of five books — Revenue, Expense, Asset, Liability, Cash — and you choose which one. Get it wrong and the game tells you why. Do it two hundred times over an evening and it stops being something you have to think about.

Four words worth owning: an asset puts money in your pocket, a liability takes money out.

Alone, around a table, or online

Play solo against up to three computer players, hand one phone around a table of up to ten people, or open a room and share the code with people who are somewhere else.

There are printable paper record forms too, for a table that would rather write by hand.

You pick what you are playing for

A moto, a shop, a car, your parents' house, your children at university, or enough passive income to stop working for someone else. Whoever reaches their own dream first wins — and two players at the same table can be chasing very different ones.

Land, gold, a rental house with a bank loan against it, a savings group, a deposit, shares, expanding your own business. Nothing offshore, nothing you could not actually walk into a bank and ask about here.
